I am so incredibly grateful for this school. They teach all the fundamental skills needed to work, live, and communicate in this life. Most importantly, they teach children how to obtain eternal life as well as how to live your life with purpose and meaning. We have a manual that teaches us how to live in this world. The Bible teaches by direct instruction as well as through stories about many that have gone before us. We read about excellent choices and poor choices made by men and woman that went before us.
For this project, she had to make and wear the armor of God, which Paul writes about to the Ephesians in the letter. The Ephesians lived in Ephesus, which is in modern day Turkey. The armor is discussed at the very end of a letter he sent to the Ephesians. To organize it for study, scholars have broken it into Chapters. The armor is found in chapter 6. Paul’s final word in this letter is for us to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
Remember Who you belong to. It is not in our power; it is because we receive help from the One who is Mighty in power. He reminds us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual dark forces in this world. There is battle going on that cannot be seen with our eyes. It is subtle yet fierce. He says to be ready! You must have this armor to stand firm against the strategies of the devil. The creative side of this project was that you could only use recycled materials. We have many boxes to ship gifts to family or build forts at any given moment.
Alexa is at the “everything is embarrassing” age, but she is so stinking cute. She did an excellent job! The most important lesson I pray she learned is the deep truth of God’s word. I pray it seeps deeply into her heart and soul. His promises and instruction are so loving and good. When we do our part, He is there, fighting and shielding us in this mighty power.
What is our part?
We must put on the full armor of God for this invisible spiritual battle every day. So, take up the shield of faith, which quenches or stops fiery darts of the evil one. Put on the breastplate of righteousness being conscience of what is moral and right. Gird yourself with the belt of truth to discern what’s truth over lies. We put the Gospel of Peace on our feet, which is the Good News of what Jesus did for the world. He came, lived on earth as a man, died on the cross for our sins, providing the perfect sacrifice, and rose from the dead on the third day. We wear a helmet of salvation and assume the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. We are to stay alert and be persistent in our prayers! Many are standing with us but most importantly, He is. He says, “Yes little one, put this armor on every day of your life. It will serve you well!”
