I used to think walking was boring. It seemed slow and I certainly did not count it as a workout. I have recently come to look forward to a leisurely stroll. It is age or walking through a painful season, or a little of both. Sometimes I go with a friend, and we enjoy chatting and catching up along the way. I occasionally go with my husband and we like talking for a bit and praying together.

How Danielle George Spends Time With God

My favorite part of walking is spending time with God. He is my true solace. The only One that feels and knows my pain. The only One who can comfort. I enjoy making playlist of songs that fit my current season. I am not great with clearly expressing my feelings, yet I am frequently amazed at songs I hear that expresses exactly how I feel. I am grateful at how God had done this for me for years.

As I walked Haslet Park today, I was listening to Psalm 46 (Lord of Hosts) by Shane & Shane. I am reminded that in my pain and sadness, God is with me. The chorus confidently sings “Lord of Hosts, You are with us, with us in the fire, with us as a shelter, with us in the storm. You will lead us through the fiercest battle. Oh, where else would we go but with the Lord of Hosts?” He sees me, He knows my pain and I am reminded that I do not want to go anywhere without Him. I am thankful for the little taste of joy I got to capture walking and admiring His creation and talking to Him.
